Installing the Plug-in 


















"Install" is only necessary the the first time you download or when the plug-in is revised (you will be notified when this happens). Clicking on "Install" not only includes the MasterDATA Composite Plug-in required to easily use the price and composite data, but also updates and/or corrects MasterDATA Custom Indicators, layouts, templates, experts, price files and composite data.*  On subsequent days that you wish to update only your price and composite datafiles, click on the "Price & Composite Data Update" button. This latter process bypasses the full MetaStock installation.


This installation process makes no changes to any MetaStock or MetaStock related file.







Step By Step Instructions 



  1. Close MetaStock.

  2. Click on "Install" (left column).

  3. Choose "Run" or "Open" in the Windows dialog box that appears.

  4. While the file is downloading, make sure the  "Close this dialog box when download completes" checkbox is blank.  If a checkmark appears in the box, click on it to remove the checkmark.

  5. When the download completes, a "Security Warning" dialog box may appear, click on "Run" (usually occurs only if you have Windows XP with SP2 installed).

  6. In the small "MasterDATA install window that appears next, read the message and click on "OK".

  7. A "WinZip Self Extractor" window appears. Click on "Unzip". Do not change any settings in this dialog window or many functions will not work properly.

  8. When all files have unzipped, click on "OK\' in the small dialog window that appears.

  9. In the "MetaStock Self-Extracting Install" window that appears, click on "OK". This will install the MasterDATA Composite Plug-in and related Custom Indicators and Experts.

  10. If you have previously installed the MasterDATA Composite Plug-in, various windows entitled "Duplicate Tools Detected" will appear. Always click on "Overwrite". Clicking on "Overwrite" will only update Custom Indicators and Experts previously installed from the MasterDATA web site through this Install procedure. It will never overwrite MetaStock or your own Custom Indicators and Experts. No changes are ever made to MetaStock or your own files by this install process. The MasterDATA Composite Plug-in installation process only adds files.

  11. A second "MetaStock Self-Extracting Install" window will appear. Click on "OK". This will install one or several MasterDATA proprietary indicators including MasterDATA\'s Trend Channels Indicator (which you will now be able to use for any security within MetaStock).

  12. You are finished! Open MetaStock and begin using your new plug-in and data. For on-line help, click on the link provided in the new Internet browser window that will appear upon completing the "Install" process.

  13. The easiest place to start using your new MasterDATA Composite Plug-in is with layouts.  Click on the "Layouts" button in the left hand column under "User Manual".  When you are ready to write your own Custom Indicators using the MasterDATA Composite Plug-in, click on the "Price & Composite Data" button to learn about the one MetaStock formula that will pull any composite data from the datafiles.

* Important!:  Always save your new or changed layouts, templates and experts with a new name. Both the "Install" process and the "Price & Composite Data Update" update (overwrite) the MasterDATA Composite Plug-in layouts, templates and experts previously installed. This action allows us to update and, if needed, correct not only the plug-in, but also all data and MetaStock support files.
